A Sad Day...

So some of you know that my husband is a volunteer for the county which means that when I am available I chase the guys to any fires. Yesterday there was a house fire in Rock Island that I went to (before this awful flu bug kicked in last night!). My deepest sympathies to the family that lost their home yesterday.

On a happier note, I've had a busy week photographing adorable little girls and beautiful families. :-) Its been a fun week!

One more for the road...

Ok, one more from the first session! Its been a busy week...and not even as busy as it was supposed to be! Due to weather my 4 sessions became 2 sessions. Which was OK, because I'm in the middle of editing 3 sessions as well as preparing to take school pictures for two pre-schools next week! Phew!

Calm Before the Storm

So while I was out with my back injury I have been booking sessions like crazy (how it goes right? ;-) Anyways, I promised a session. This little guy was such a delight! I had the privilege of photographing big brother last Christmas. Both such cuties!

"Ice, Ice Baby..."

Been the story of my life this last week! I injured my back at work last Sunday and besides seeing the chiropractor and massage therapy all I've done is lie around and ice! Anyways, I got in two good naps today and finally feel up to being somewhat productive. Thanks to those that have been so patient while waiting for your portraits! I hope to get some new sessions posted really soon! Thanks for continuing to follow the blog!

Busy Labor Day!

Well we had a busy day preparing for the upcoming holiday season! First Jeremie and I did a quick informal family session. One of the photos from that session will be the background for our new marketing postcards! Be sure to get your address to us if you would like to receive promotions in the mail (shouldn't be more than one a month for those of you like me and hate junk mail!). Then had a second session with cute as a button, 6 month old J! Such a sweety!

Wow...September already?

Cannot believe September is here and our summer weather will soon be gone. Its been a busy summer with an even busier fall upon us. September is when all our last minute seniors start calling. There is also a good chance of us being the school photographer for a new local school and I'm very excited about this possibility. I am actually meeting with another photographer in an hour to figure out a game plan if it all pans out! It also looks like we will be holding our first portrait party sometime in October. If you are interested in hosting one yourself please contact me!

NYIP

So this week has brought some unexpected events that kept me from blogging on my usual nights. Found out my grandfather had gone into the hospital very early Tuesday morning and then at noon Wednesday he had emergency surgery. So while I'm sorry I missed out on blogging Tuesday night I'm not that sorry, because I was spending time with him and he is now home and doing well. :-)
I finished my summer quarter class at Wenatchee Valley College with an A and now only lack 2 classes to finish my AA degree. I will continue that starting Winter quarter in January. Between now and then plan on finishing up my course work with New York Institute of Photography (NYIP). Hopefully I can dive right in and learn even more so that I am prepared to serve my clients even better this coming fall (family portrait season!).

Making Progress & Free Session Winners

So tonight's blog has little to do with photography...have other things on my mind!
I will say that I have started working on putting together a business plan that will hopefully give me direction for making Katie Clark Photography successful. :-)

Our two winners of the free sessions were Tom McCourt and Michelle Vanerpool! Congrats to both of you!

This seems as good a place as any to rant a little bit (I put it on the end in case you dont want to "listen" ;-) So my parents and sister were in Olympia today working on my dad's sailboat, prepping it for a 3 week sailing trip that is coming up. Anyways, while they were working on the boat the car was parked in the marina parking lot and the passenger side window was broken out and Sara's (my sister) purse was stolen. I'm just so frustrated for them! I guess though this has been happening in the same parking lot the last week or so. About 5 or 6 other vehicals have been broken into as well. Hopefully they catch this person soon!! Thank you for letting me vent and get a little off topic. :-)

First 2010 Senior

Had the privilege of shooting my first 2010 senior the other night! D.S. was a great guy to work with and made my job very easy. :-) We went up to Leavenworth to start off with and ended up in Monitor. Sadie (our shepard/lab mix) tagged along and played in the river while we took pictures. It was a fun evening. Great weather, relaxing and even a little adventure! While in Monitor a very loud siren started to sound. It sounded just like a tornado warning siren finally after about 5-10 minutes we realized it was calling all the volunteer firefighters to the station for a fire! Learn something new everyday! :-)

Tots 2 Teens

Katie and Sara (photography assistant) will be traveling to Everett in March to attend the "Tots 2 Teens" seminar presented by Sandy Puc, a very talented photographer from Colorado. So be sure to look for specials regarding kids from their tots to their teens around early April (they will be eager to practice what they've learned!). ;-)

2010 Seniors

Juniors, its not too early to start thinking about YOUR senior pictures! Start thinking about what season you would like your photographs taken. In the summer, when things are nice and green? Or in the fall, when we have beautiful golds and oranges? Not only do you need to think about the when, but you should think about the where. Do you want to go to the river or to Ohme Gardens and "be one with nature"? Or do you want to go find an alley somewhere and have the "big city" feel? Most importantly, your desicions should reflect you and your personality. And when it does come time to pick your photographer we hope you will keep Katie Clark Photography in mind. :-)

New Website Coming This Summer!

We've been hard at work designing our new website! It will have the same web address but a whole new look! We're hoping this new site look more professional and be easier to navigate for our clients. :-) Please feel free to contact Katie Clark Photography with any changes you would like to see on the site.
